Hello , I am about to start to make a regulator for a big boiler Tich , I would like to make a screw down type as it looks simpler . Has any one any experience of one ?. I have seen several drawings , but they all seem to be drawn by people who know what they are doing for people who know what they are doing . Any fully explained designs available for us beginners ?

regards Phil

Hi Phil

The regulator in Robroy is screw down and mine works a treat, seals well for boiler tests. Just do not leave it tight shut as the boiler cools down you may not be able to move it until the boiler is hot again.

hope this helps Paul

Philip, does your local library or school still have a photocopier? If so you can enlarge a dwg on that. Also can do it with a scanner and some kind of photoshop type tool on a PC.

Hi Philip,

I have not made a regulator for a Tich, but, I have made a screw down regulator that works quite well. Here's a link to a post here on this forum about screw down regulators including several photos and drawings:

Philip;

I made a screw-down regulator for my large-boilered Tich. I did this back in the early '90s, and it has worked flawlessly.

I patterned it off of the Rob Roy one, used a coarse 1/4" tap and the valve end something like 45 degrees. I probably scaled it down to fit the regulator tube so as to fit in with the LBSC regulator bushing design.

Do it!

Sorry, no pictures, no drawings. It's never been out since first steaming.

John.
