I have just purchased a small bottle of fluorescent test fluid.

I will be using this in some optical experiments, rather than for its intended purpose ; and I therefore need to know a little more about its specification.

Can anyone tell me, please, what Oil is used in such products, and how much it can reasonably be diluted.

My previouse experience with Fluoroscein is limited to sprinkling powder into underground streams. **LINK**

.

Thanks

The oils used range from mineral oil, polyester oils and other esters.

Generally you added the the dye in minute amounts because it spread everywhere very quickly.

With refrigerant systems we didn't want anything in the system that shouldn't be there normally such as, no moisture, only oil and refrigerant.

Don't forget your black light detector.

Read this document for dosing etc...

Thanks, Brian ... 'Minute amounts' sounds good.

So; do you think I could use 'most any oil with this fluid in an open vessel ?

... the light source is no problem, but the refrigerant gas isn't something I want to play with.
