![]() 19226 forum posts 749 photos 86 articles | I have been sent a pair of turbocad drawings (.TCW). They look fine in the thumbnails, but when I try and open them TurboCAD says it hasn't got a suitable filter. Is it possible they were drawn with TurboCAD professional? Would that stop me opening them with TurboCAD deluxe? Neil

144 forum posts 4 photos | Neil, TC doesn't handle well drawings in TCW format which were created on newer versions of the software. So, if the contributor had a more recent version than you have, the error you reported would show. I still use TC 16 Deluxe and when new it received an update. Any drawings created on the updated software couldn't be opened on the original (un-updated) version. I have it on two machines which I don't use concurrently. Regards Tom |

Regards Tom I have TC21, so that shouldn't be the issue. Sounds like they may have a pro version. I've contacted them asking them to export as PDF - all I would do is open it and re-save as a PDF anyway. Thanks folks. Neil |

Ask contributor for a dxf, that should open in any cad package Humph. Not pleased with DXF at the moment I spent ages adding a 3D model to fit a 2D part in someone else's DXF Worked excellently until I saved it and closed it, forgetting to save as a TCW. On reopening my wonderful complex part had been converted into lots of triangles, like an STL file. Not a hope of being able to meaningfully edit it |
