Reluctant engine start

2878 forum posts 248 photos | I seem to end up with other people's cast offs. Equipment, too good to throw away, too expensive to have repaired. In my collection of these cast offs, I have a rotovator (Briggs and Stratton), Strimmer(s), one Ryobi the other BS, a McCullock chain saw, mower BS and a ride on mower (Without the mower bit) again BS. The mower is OK as it is electric start and its the alternator that won't charge sufficient to maintain the battery for the whole summer and winter as I just use the tractor bit for hauling wood in winter and garden water in the summer. |

2878 forum posts 248 photos | Hi Clive, I normally get these things once they are worn out, pump diaphragms perished etc etc. The spares are generally more expensive than the thing is worth, so as a last ditch effort, a squirt of gas is the 'CureAll' |

![]() 2095 forum posts 75 photos | My Daughter and Son in Law wanted a petrol lanmower so I collected one free off of our local Freecycle that ran but very rough and rich, the engine was a B & S with a plastic Carburetor, new one cost me £19 and fitted it, the engine ran for 18 months until the mower body collapsed with rust so I now have a good running engine with no mower waiting for a new owner.

![]() 2929 forum posts 41 photos | Speedy Builders, Today I took 3 swarms and had to leave a big one as it was too high up a plum tree, about 30 foot or so. I am 80 and it was a little too far for me at my age, I have ladders but cannot lift the sections to the height. The others were easy and low, 2 in one tree. Clive |
