Is it against the rules to mention on this site, when you have posted something of interest to model engineers, on ebay; perhaps in the classified section? It seems a pity that someone might miss out on something they might want, simply because they do not look at eBay that often.

You can make a post mentioning it if it is a PRIVATE sale.

You can advertise it through our FREE classifieds, but please don't use a classified to direct people to an ad on eBay..

I've never understood why so many people on this site use euphemisms when mentioning eBay .... as though it's somehow a banned word.

Thanks for the clarification Neil, I was just curious.

To use the word casually is fine, it's only when it becomes professional promoting that it's too intrusive. To mention or recommend a supplier of engineering goods is almost part and parcel of the hobby, but it's not meant to be a welcome mat for spam, is what it comes down to.
