204 forum posts | I was wondering if somebody could advise on the best way of sealing cylinders (and valves) I bought some vey thin rubber from e-bay and thought this might be ok for fastening between the boiler and cylinder on a Minnie traction engine?. I am also aware of some other ways of effecting a seal, but could someone suggest a sealant compound |

The rest of the cylinder covers, valve chest etc on a small engine like this can be done with a liquid gasket which you should be able to get from Halfords or e-bay. The advantage of this is that it adds no noticable thickness to teh joint so parts don't have to be made with an allowance for gasket thickness. Blue Hylomar and sheet jointing here |
