3453 forum posts 23 photos | I want an MT2 to MT2 extension socket for the head of my wood turning lathe but have only seen tanged versions. I need a threaded end for a drawbar, can you buy them? |

![]() 1071 forum posts | In over 60 years around metalworking I have never seen an extension socket without a tang. You could cut the tang off, drill and tap for drawbar threads. How will the tool be retained in the socket? |

![]() 2904 forum posts 448 photos | You could get around that by threading a bolt through the extension into the tool and giving the head a smart tap - or bumping it against a solid object like a vise. You'd have to be careful drilling a clearance hole through the extension, mind. You'd probably want to drill from the male taper end otherwise you'd be trying to open up a tang slot into a bore, buried at the bottom of the taper cavity... |
