Restoration at its absolute best in spite of

Reading this a few minutes ago had me shaking my head in dismay!

I also dislike what is becoming a common grammatical error. The crowd was an "amount" of people. It should be a "number" of people. 50% is an amount and 100 is a number.

reminds me of a family outing on I think Boxing day 1965 to a relative who lived very near the sheds at Warrington (1st main town N of Crewe on West Coast line) - passing over the bridge which overlooked the shed it + the yard was jampacked with Coronation Scots (Duchesses!) and other mainline locos - probably well over 50 there - guess on their way for scrap. In previous years used to have one pass by at speed hauling a down Scot as I got off my train (abt 5pm) returning from school
