5 forum posts | I have a wee bit play on the spindle, it moves back and forth by about 2mm. I assume this is not supposed to happen? |

1504 forum posts 142 photos | Spindle end thrust adjustment is made by the threaded collar at the end of the spindle, just inboard of the gearwheel at the left hand end. This is locked by a socket set screw (grub screw). Loosen this and tighten the collar to take up the play. There is a copper pad under the set screw to protect the spindle threads, so it may be tight. If this doesn't do the trick then it's probably the thrust bearing at fault. ![]() 3676 forum posts 82 photos | The end float is adjusted by the screwed collar on the left end of the spindle, it may be worth a little investigation as 2mm is quite a lot to suddenly appear, it may simply be the locking screw for the collar has come loose and allowed the collar to move. Mike |
