![]() 30 forum posts 1 photos | Is there any reason why I shouldn't make eccentric straps out of bronze plate instead of gunmetal castings? I have a decent sized piece of bronze plate of appropriate thickness that will unlikely ever be used for anything else. Unfortunately I cannot be more specific as to what type of bronze it is other than to state the obvious that it is less copper coloured than gunmetal but more copper coloured than brass! Loco is Titfield Thunderbolt in 3.5" gauge. |

183 forum posts 20 photos | Ah, a Titbolt Thunderfield, a wonderful little locomotive. A piece of bronze is always a better bet than a gunmetal casting which inevitably seem to stretch after a period of use, better still cast iron straps running on steel eccentrics. A good friend of mine always referred to eccentric straps as band brakes! Regards, Bob Youldon |
