5 forum posts | I'm new here, so not sure if this is the right place to post. I'm building a 3.5 inch gauge Tich, large boilered version, and will have plenty of questions as I go along. As so many people have already trodden this path, I feel sure all my questions must have already been covered on here somewhere, but I haven't found them yet. Please point me in the right direction if necessary. I started on this project about 30 years ago, did some work on the frames and cut out the boiler parts, and then life got in the way. It's all been sitting on the shelf ever since, gathering dust and rust. I'm now retired and I've picked it up again. First question - the regulator. I've read various comments about LBSC's regulator design being unsatisfactory. Can I find drawings for a better design anywhere? Second question - water gauge. The drawings for the water gauge mountings say thread 7/32 x 40, but I can't find anyone who supplies water gauge fittings of that size. What have other people used? Thanks in advance for any help.

608 forum posts 2 photos | Hi Richard and welcome, I built this some years back and opted for 1/4 x 40 fittings, for one reason the glass on the 7/32 is very small and tends to give a slightly higher level reading than the bigger glasses. Reeves do a 1/4 x 40 **LINK** may need a second mortgage tho'. I'm sorry, I can't remember what I did about the regulator, I think I just used the standard one, If I still have the drawings I'll let you know.
All the best Lofty |

421 forum posts 1 photos | Some discussion of regulators here, with a specific reference to the Tich regulator. As regards the water gauge fittings I cannot advise as I made my own, it was not too onerous. Regards, Phil.
