Thread: Would Like to Meet ..... Tich owners |

I am struggling with the Walschaerts valve gear on my Tich. It would be really helpful to have a close look at a completed model, so that I can see whether I have got something fundamentally wrong. I am in Hampshire. Is there anyone nearby who has a working Tich that I could have a look at? Thanks, Richard |

I am building the large boiler for Tich. Am I right in thinking that there are no stays in the throatplate? The book describes stays going through the backhead and through the sides of the firebox, but no mention of any coming through the throatplate. I can't see them shown on the drawings either, but someone has recommended that I put some in. What have other builders done?

I'm new here, so not sure if this is the right place to post. I'm building a 3.5 inch gauge Tich, large boilered version, and will have plenty of questions as I go along. As so many people have already trodden this path, I feel sure all my questions must have already been covered on here somewhere, but I haven't found them yet. Please point me in the right direction if necessary. I started on this project about 30 years ago, did some work on the frames and cut out the boiler parts, and then life got in the way. It's all been sitting on the shelf ever since, gathering dust and rust. I'm now retired and I've picked it up again. First question - the regulator. I've read various comments about LBSC's regulator design being unsatisfactory. Can I find drawings for a better design anywhere? Second question - water gauge. The drawings for the water gauge mountings say thread 7/32 x 40, but I can't find anyone who supplies water gauge fittings of that size. What have other people used? Thanks in advance for any help.
