Looks as if you are using the table drive to self-machine the top surface with an angle grinder. Presumably you also find the grit tightens up the various linear bearings, ballscrews etc?

Looks like quite a beast - what are the dimensions of the working envelope. Can you tell us a bit about it - what drives it etc?

As to grind dust.
Angle grinders dont "shed"..they do wear but not significantly on this duty.. ( I know since I dressed wheel..A first on an angle grinder ... and checked wheel during process . Pointless if wheel wore significantly..)

Now the ground down al..
Well as you know the stuff burns in air..so the dust. (What could be found on machine) . was very fine.

THE machine was degreased after..and the wipe cloths checked ( I too was concerned and interested. .)

Well either all the swarf burnt or blew away ..and no grit found.

The recirculating balls were blown dry.
And re greased ( oil really).

It is not maybe the proper technique but the clean up found no contamination. .and no trouble.
