I was wondering if any model engineer could give me advice on reconditioning a Conquest mill. I want to change the spindle and bearings and i would like to know if the sieg x2 spindle and bearings are the same size. This is due mainly to cost of spares for the Conquest... thanks John

Hello John,

As far as I know they are both essentially the same basic machine.

I used the Arc angular contact bearing upgrade and was very happy with it (I also scraped in the base of the column and added a bracing plate) and have since been able to do much better work.

I have since tested my spindle and it is aligned within the appropriate Schlesinger limit!

Neil
