It could if Brexit created a mindset that we needed to become a manufacturing nation again with a will to produce goods for export &, therefore, need the skill sets to meet that demand. Then govt attitude & that of the educational establishments may change & indoctrinate a different ideal into the newer generations.

However, at the risk of being extremely controversial,( with no intention to racism) if one looks at some of the you tube videos re the the change of our society likely within the next 20 years due to the change in birth rates attributable to different sectors in our society that may not be the case & the whole intention of Brexit may be wasted.

...and what exactly WAS the intention of Brexit? Somehow forcing British industry to become more significant? Some chance. I must have missed that amongst all the lies and misinformation.

JS seems to like livening things up Jon. Or maybe he has other motives. No idea.

He is also living on planet Zod if he thinks Brexit wont change things at grass roots level. It has and will. The degree will depend on what might be euphemistically called the Final Solution.

surpriseI probably will be just that. Final. What ever that means.

High volume production for export these days sometimes means this

and this

In some areas where investment is high enough and the work is suitable manufacture involves well under 10% of the people it did when the contribution was at the peak of the graph I posted.

There is a pottery company in wait for it the potteries that can't get local people to work in factories. No one wants to so they employ immigrants who are very happy to take the jobs. That's why even the pundits are rather quiet when it comes to actually specifying level of immigration. Also why some social support is being slowly but surely reduced.

All getting a bit heated now.

Not aimed at any single individual, but just because I said it was a reasonable discussion it wasn't licence to up the ante.

I'm locking this thread before it turns into a fist fight.
