566 forum posts 31 photos | Just back from a holiday to Italy and can report that it is not all bland lager over there. Happily tripped over a beer festival in Venice on our first night. Italian craft brewing is doing well. Plenty of stouts and porters available as well as reds and ambers alongstide the more traditional blonde beers |

Restaurants not content with charging well over the top prices for a pint are now swindling us with a schooner measure of 2/3 of a pint, perhaps they hope no one will notice it equated to over £7 a pint. As I was des I ordered a coke, volume shrinkage was also in evidence here, £3 for a 200ml bottle of Diet Coke! Or £8.52 for a pint Mike Edited By Mike Poole on 30/09/2018 12:08:05 Putting the cost aside, I find a schooner is a perfect size for drinking the stronger craft beers. Also if you aren't on the stronger ones. you can taste more of them |

![]() 3676 forum posts 82 photos | 1/3 or 1/2 is ideal for a festival where it’s nice to try some new beers without getting completly b*****ed too quickly. Serving up an Italian lager that would cost 60p in an Italian supermarket for a hugely inflated price in the uk must be close to being mugged, I quote the supermarket price to highlight that we are not dealing with a high value product but we are charged a premium price to consume it in a uk restaurant and they attempt to hide the price with the short measure, the same scam as the ever shrinking chocolate bar and snack sizes. What happened to family sized tubes of toothpaste? Mike |
