Yes Kevin, still up and running here, but only as a back-up lathe. Did some screw-cutting couple of weeks ago without any difficulty.

Hi Kevin, it's not so hard as it looks. z1 is permanently attached to the mandrel, as you may be aware, z6 always goes on the lead screw. z2 & z3 are coupled together, but sometimes they are just a single gear and the same goes for z4 & z5. The two dots : shown between each pair on the little diagram are the ones that mesh together. So on a 0.8 mm thread, in the columns z2 & z3 shows a 40 tooth gear, this becomes a combined gear and one side will mesh with z1 and the other side will mesh with z3.

Hope this helps a little bit more.

Regards Nick.

Hi Kevin, if it is marked as z32, it is most likely the one that is put into the gear train between the z1 on the mandrel and z2 on the rest of the train so that left hand threads can be cut. shown in the top right of this **LINK**

Regards Nick.

Well I am between 5 and 9 years late to this post.

I have just picked up a Warco 220 for pretty much silly money. It has come from a school and appears to have had very little use, which is always nice

The downside is that it did not come with any tooling, or screwcutting gears. I knew this when I bought it.

The second downside is that (probably for reasons of safety) the school un-installed the lead-screw drive mechanism. It is missing the gear which meshes with the spindle splines, the one with the 3 small pulleys for the 'friction disc' to engage in.

Does anyone still have one of these lathes, and if so, would it be possible to have the dimensions and tooth count of this gear so I can make up a new one?.

Many thanks

James

Hi James,

I think you are after a 64 tooth gear. I am installing a 220 vs and trying to work out the screw cutting gears. I found your post and took some pictures. I could draw up this gear if you still need the info?
