Made a pulley today for the little ml3 ,turned out quite good I'd say . Mini moto wheel bearings came in handy .

Any tips on squaring up the cross carrage on the ml3 ,something doesn't seem right ,I have the gib at the back of the ways . It shouldn't make any difference should it .

Sean

Gib at the back sounds sensible. How are you assessing it and how much out is it?

Bit of a long shot here but... would anyone on here have the dimensions of the myford ml3 topslide screw and the dimensions of the base that the topslide sits on. Or indeed where I could find them . A guy has offered to have a go at making them for me .

Well..... i sold my ml3 today ,it was causing me too much grief in trying to source parts for it and when i did find anything the prices were so bloated ,and that's the only reason i sold . I don't like profiteers .

So now i've sourced another lathe (not a myford) but a Stedall . It needs a bit of tlc ,i'm all up for that .

Maybe i should start a new thread on the new (to me ) Stedall . Thing i'm going to need a bigger shed also ,that's been in the plans for a while now .....

Did you point the new owner to the forum? It would be nice to know how he gets on with it to complete the story.

Steadall seem to be rather smaller or is yours something not on the Lathes site which would be interesting. Perhaps if they were rebadging they also did other machines than those pictured.

.

[Bazyle] ?? ... Differently proportioned; but a useful 4" centre height, according to your link.

[Sean] Yes please, do start a new thread ... It looks like a very interesting machine, especially if you have the thread-chasing equipment.

Well it certainly is not smaller than the ml3 ,it weighs in at around 240kg .
