Hold it Guys it is probably my error in translation my advisor said he uses a toaster oven. he lives in the US so I translated this to micro wave. Obviously this cannot be right its a mini oven but not microwave?????

Seems that a toaster oven is what we might call a convection microwave. In other words a microwave with heating elements for a browning or grilling function. The grilling function could work for tempering, although I don't think the temperature control would be particularly fine if mine is anything to go by.

Funny enough that was my thought but I was assured that after calibrating with a oven thermometer it was fine???

Might be worth a try, at fifteen quid.

Just use a domestic oven with an oven thermometer. Then stick the tip in a potato and flame the shank to blue.

No I am wrong as usual : it will do as I just read temper between 180 and 350 for an hour. The oven now seems more attractive than standing there for an hour.

At the risk of saying you have got it wrong again the 180-350deg sounds like Centigrade, watch the source of anything on the net as US stuff will not be the same. Don't know what you are doing in that hour but tempering with a flame is all over in a minute or so depending on volume of metal.
