Yes we did a bit of brass/bronze casting with a little Vortex kiln. Mainly pommels and quillons for viking swords. The first few were rubbish, full of holes and crud, but they gradually improved. The first attempt was in a mate's cellar, no vents, very silly, his eyes went green. After that we moved to the outside loo.

Outside with a wind brake as the fumes can be very toxic. LOO?! How do you get two whales in a mini? ANS across the Seven bridge. How do you get two burly blokes in a loo casting parts for Viking swords for heavens sake?

we took the loo out first, we're not silly face 20

Later we did helmet mounts, then got on to tempering the blades but that would be another thread.

How many old locks must I have smashed up for the brass bits?

Perhaps I have a mistaken impression that this is a Model engineering forum. C'mon guys keep your political soapbox in the right arena, not here. We all have our views on these things and are happy to discuss them, but please keep it away from Model Engineering.
