![]() 131 forum posts 12 photos | When i was an apprentice we used to use Castrol Cooledge,That smelled like disinfectant,So much so when we went out at the weekend and the club or pub was so hot it made you perspire our other friends could smell the disinfectant.How sad but that was life then! Memories

300 forum posts | With respect to vapours, as I said I use parafin / neat cutting opil mix and gradually the parafin evaporates and it becomes "neat" cutting oil again. Yes it's flammable but as the parafin is a low proportion not highly so.
WRT Thymol as an essential oil it is flammable but diluted in the Suds mix it will be present at so low a level as not to be a problem. It is a natural antiseptic but has been superceded by more modern and safer ones ( safer as in swallow them and you don't get serious issues, just throw up etc) As it's oil soluble it's not going to attack the machine surfaces but might not be so good for any rubber seals etc. But then again the oil content of suds will attack these eventually, as will metal particles etc. Ian |

![]() 645 forum posts 33 photos | I think you will find that Thymol is also soluble in neat cutting oil. As it is non-ionic it should be. in one place i worked a for neat crystals were dropped in the water baths they used to stop algi growing rdgs Dick. |
