Doncaster is dead easy to get to by rail, then a convenient bus to the racecourse, but last time there were 3 of us so we got a taxi. With geriatric railcard and book early it's cheap as well. Perhaps the strikes will be over by the time of the exhibition and I can see how easy Harrogate is.

Duncan, you missed the two best things about Doncaster racecourse as a venue - it makes a great venue for a racecourse (little else) and it has "The Wetherby Whaler" opposite where southerners can discover real fish and chips..

In an attempt to preserve my svelte figure I avoid fish and chop shops, the anticipation is always better than reality.
