Please do, I'm feeling guilty for spoiling the fun.

As I remember door spindles in my school , Herts county council, were 0.300 square not 5/16. I made enough of them and they had a slot at each end for the screws to go into. No wonder they broke so easy.

Hi All,

Here are the next operations completed. Original shown for comparison.

xmascomp 2.jpg

Rounded over the upper end of the shank; cut the groove for the adjusting screw and tapped the bottom M4 for those cutters that have the removeable double bevelled cutter. Other will just have a silver soldered or tig'd cutter to the ends

The split collet was a great success and worked well.

This job is very repetitive and gets a bit boring so I do a few at a time then something else.

I am not sure how to best get the 2 1/2 degree bevel at the bottom, will probably put the part in a vee block and make an angled fence on the disc sander. Just hop the screw will still line up OK disgust

Cheers, Martin

Thanks for posting this Martin, I must get round to making a few myself.

Does anyone feel like posting another of these competitions for New Year?

Good Afternoon Mr King,

Many thanks for my prizes, which I received a couple of days ago. I will find them most useful.

Cheers,

Mark.
