93 forum posts | As I remember door spindles in my school , Herts county council, were 0.300 square not 5/16. I made enough of them and they had a slot at each end for the screws to go into. No wonder they broke so easy. pete |

![]() 1129 forum posts 1 photos | Hi All, Here are the next operations completed. Original shown for comparison. Rounded over the upper end of the shank; cut the groove for the adjusting screw and tapped the bottom M4 for those cutters that have the removeable double bevelled cutter. Other will just have a silver soldered or tig'd cutter to the ends The split collet was a great success and worked well. This job is very repetitive and gets a bit boring so I do a few at a time then something else. I am not sure how to best get the 2 1/2 degree bevel at the bottom, will probably put the part in a vee block and make an angled fence on the disc sander. Just hop the screw will still line up OK Cheers, Martin |
