David are you using any other means to access the forum between using your phone as that will log you off as will where the phone pics up it's internet connection.

No I’ve never logged in on anything else (yet), I just popped out to the garage for 10mins and had to log back in to post this.

I have noticed that the little box with "stay logged in" or something like that, occurs at random. I try to stay logged in by minimising the active page and opening a new page, it works most of the time. When I have finished with the computer, it gets fully closed down and the power switched off, so I am used to logging on to all forums and the like.

Yes, I’ve noticed that little box is not there about 10% of the time.

Is it true that Alan Turing wrote the software for this site? Sorry, I’ll get my coat ... laugh

Living in very rural France, every time there is a power failure or reset/maintenance activity on the network I will have to log-in again to all forums. This is because when re-connecting after a reset my PC will have gained a new IP address from the router/network,the forum only knew me from my previous IP address so insists I log-in again.
The little 'remember me' box is never present on my first attempt to log-in so I press 'log-in' a second time and then it always shows itself. When logged-in, the first log-in page shows but scrolling down to 'more latest posts' on the RHS puts me into the posts page.

I had heard the rumour that Alan Turing was asked to update the forum software but was unable to assist, apparently being tied up with coding or some-such.
