Hi all not hijacking a this post just reminiscing I was a time served heavy machinist and had a long association with Planers Plano /Millers Shaping and Slotting machines. it was common for heavy swarf from the planer to fall and set fire to the duckboards. At almost 78 years of age still get a yearning to be at the controls of a planer. However I still make use of my Alba 10 inch shaper which save me a fortune in milling cutters.

The North Wales slate industry used planers to machine slabs of slate. Must have been a hell hole as I don't suppose they bothered much with dust suppression. There's a video of one working here

Rik, you never said if you got the one that started the thread. I assume not posting details was so as not to have competition.

Anyway last weekend I picked up the one Adam offered and will post some pictures on a new thread so that it can be more easily found by search engines.
