Chronos only failing is that they only stock material in 12 in lengths not 24.

Milton Keynes may be your nearest club, and Bedford too. Luton has a boat club with interest in steam but not specifically ME.

Thanks everyone!

Can anyone recommend a Mill/Drill. I often pass Axminster in Wycombe on my travels. Been looking at the Sieg SX2, it's about my price limit I can justify to myself at the moment. Are these machines any good, considering I'm not a machinist and will be using for home machine work and projects.

I've heard decent reviews but thought it better to here from the experts...

Many thanks

Milton Keynes Metals is just west of MK itself, Little Horwood Farm. Ian will sort you out.

Hi Rich,

I have an old Sieg X2 milling machine myself, it has not caused any trouble for me. But it is a lightweight milling machine, so I use relatively small cutters, up to 12mm. There are some plastic gears in the head, so I have not pushed it.
A friend of mine has a SX2 with a brushless DC motor, seems to have more torque at low speeds than mine, ARC has a version with longer table than mine have.
