I'm sure people have mentioned a way of providing Google with a picture and telling it to find similar pictures....??
There's several different methods.
If you open a conventional Google search box, there's a camera icon at the right hand end.
https://www.google.co.uk/
Click on that, and you can either paste an image's URL into the search box, drag an image into it or upload a file.
You can therefor photograph something yourself and upload the picture for a similar image search.
Depending on your browser, you might be able to install Tin Eye, which is a reverse image search tool; right click on an image and select Tin Eye from the drop down menu.
It can also be used in a similar fashion to Google from its own web page.
https://tineye.com/
One website I use regularly is SmallSEOTools, which again works along similar lines.
https://smallseotools.com/reverse-image-search/
This one however simultaneously searches Yandex, Bing, and Google Images, though the latter seems a little more limited than Google Eye.

Be a bit careful with that one, as I'm not quite clear on the actual problem.
If Bob can get on e-mail OK, as it's set to auto log-on, it could cause a problem.
A re-set password won't be stored by the auto log-on in the browser, and he might get locked out if he inadvertently makes several attempts with the old password.
Maybe better to find the actual problem with the computer/browser setup first

You might find that the problem is specific to a browser and/or operating system.
In my case I use Opera on W10, and there are various display and password options within the browser security settings.

You could try searching for 6BA ones
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/324951181485
I often search in Google, when I'm not sure of the exact description, but search on "Images" rather than "All"
Obviously this then shows a series of photos, from which it's often possible to extract other useful search terms.
e.g. a search for "Double Spring Washers", shows several photos including the word "Thackery", so you can then add that to the search box to narrow the field a bit; similarly you might even find the BS or DIN number.

I'm using Pennine Lubricants Metacut CF in the lube tank of my Warco GH1330, which seems to work well.
Easy for me, as I visit Sheffield regularly. It was appreciably cheaper per litre, in 25l rather than 5l containers, so maybe worth a club order ??.
https://www.penninelubricants.co.uk/product/metacut-cf/
I've now moved to Buxton, but one of the dealers there has weekly deliveries, which you can order in advance and collect.
They do have stockists in Bedford & Bourne if you are anywhere near there.

Second hand car starter motors certainly have a price advantage, but another possibility might be an electric winch motor, which is designed to run in either direction.

I've been using bronze gun wire brushes myself, originally bought from Anchor Supplies in Nottingham/Ripley; though they may no longer have any after the fire.

I could do with some more now;
The nearest for Ian might be Lock Stock and Barrel

or maybe NM Products

Thread: Can I get an MT1 extension with a through hole? |
01/04/2023 17:26:33 |
If you have a look on Ketan's site you will find a few different adaptor sleeves, including an MT1 to parallel.
Yes it might need through drilling for a drawbar, but would provide a means to use your MT1 collet securely in a 3 or 4 jaw lathe chuck.
https://www.arceurotrade.co.uk/Catalogue/Adaptors-Sleeves
There are also R8 to morse adaptors , though only MT2/3
Alternatively, I wonder about any old length of round bar, with the end drilled/bored to accept your milling cutter, and held in a 3/4 jaw.
If the overhang/projection causes chatter, then run it through a fixed steady on the chuck side of the cross slide.

Regardless of whether it will work or not, when was it last powered up?
As Neil mentioned, there is always the possibility of magic smoke escaping.
This was the advice I received from one particular manufacturer's tech helpdesk.
Access to a variac is useful, but it needn't be big enough to supply the inverter under full load, as this is just about applying an increasing supply voltage to re-form the capacitors.
I made the enquiry originally having released some magic smoke
Hi
Please see below guide only may not be suitable for all inverters
your decision to try it
applying low voltage should not damage the unit if anything it will display low voltage.

The same company also produces a Nocturnal, working on the Polaris Kochab alignment, so I guess not much use if you plan on travelling too far south

A Google search doesn't give any results for what I assume is the correct designation: SCGT 06(T)304.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
As with other folk above, I've had a good look around, including Chinese sites and failed to find SCGT060204 anywhere, so I guess either you need to move to a larger holder, which as you say defeats the object.
On the other hand, you could buy a replacement holder and go for the diamond shaped inserts at the smaller size, as CCGT060204 are readily available; I've just bought a box.
Last comment relates to your SCGT06T304 assumption above.
I'm not sure it's correct; the T3 part refers to the thickness
02=2.38mm
T3=2.78mm
03=3.18mm
T3=3.97mm
04=4.76mm
I'm not sure that XXXX06T304 would be common in any shape; I think all my 06 sized ones are 02 thickness.

I have actually got one of these things working in a fashion, it was bunged up with old grease and dirt, but the return spring that rotates the 'scrolls' seems very weak although it may be that a stripping down and really thorough clean and lube may improve things. One of the others seems completely 'dead' and the third is in pieces on my bench. At the moment I have no idea how to re-assemble it but someone has been kind enough to send me a PDF of the manual so I am hoping to know a bit more before I go back into the workshop tomorrow. If I can resurrect at least two of them I will make some new levers with plastic knobs to smarten up their appearance. I will also make MrCrispin's clamping sleeve to fit a device to the Myford tail-stock. All good clean fun!
Which book have you been sent?
There's a 22MB pdf file available readily on line, or a (slightly) higher quality 75MB version, though I can't remember where I found that one offhand.
Both are 95 page documents entitled The Book Of The Coventry Diehead 25th edition.
The link I posted above on Trurbinejon, has some better quality photo essays

It's good to have the drill cuck and relevant arbor, since, whilst it's a 0MT, it's a truncated one.
As I recall, and I may be wrong, it's the wide end of the 0MT which is missing, so it's not just a case of getting a full length one and sawing off the thin end.
There's some info on Tony's site HERE

Hello and welcome Jon;
Yes I do have a Simat 101, which I bought from new, though it's currently out of commission in a box under the bench.
I bought it with the standard 3 jaw scroll chuck, and a Pratt Burnard 4 jaw independent.
The through hole in the chuck for the 3 jaw is about 13.6mm, and 15.7mm for the 4 jaw. Clearly the through hole through the spindle is a lot smaller.
Yes you can hold a 20mm bar, and turn it OK, but be careful not to strain the jaws, or chip a tooth off the scroll chuck jaws; tailstock support would seem prudent.

Jim Al-Khalili did on Twitter a while ago
"I just asked ChatGPT to write me a poem on the two-slit experiment in quantum mechanics in the style of Robert Burns. My work on this earth is done."
Two slits in wall, a mystery to be,
The quantum world, a strange entity.
A particle sent, with wave-like grace,
Its path, a riddle, with nary a trace.
But lo! What magic, doth this impart,
With both slits open, it plays its part,
A diffraction pattern, doth it bring,
A sight to see, with marv'lous fling.
And when just one, the path doth show,
The particle a path, doth surely know,
But yet, the mystery, still doth hold,
For quantum states, are never told.
Oh Burns, I think, you'd surely see,
The beauty of this physics, full of glee,
The two-slit experiment, a wondrous thing,
A test of our beliefs, and what we bring.
So let us ponder, and let us strive,
To understand, what it doth imply,
For in this experiment, truth doth lay
About the world, in a wondrous way.
