Julian - You have carpet in your workshop?? |
12/10/2016 18:50:47 |
bare arms and no gloves for soldering with the oxy gun, far too much potential to set myself on fire! I use thin goat skin gloves for TIG, availible ont auction site realy cheap. You will surely get burned holding flux, I hold it in a small pair of mole grips so you can use all but 5mm of the rod. Hope this helps. |

My hastings car insurance renewal came in at £650, usind a compare website I could get it to £350 and would you believe still with Hastings - its now even cheaper than last yer. Got Sky down from £50 pm to £18 with the loss of just one channel, namely the F1 channel which I didnt even know existed. Swapped gas and electricity and phone and internet. Total 12 month saving of over £1000. |
Thread: Fake boiler certificates |

I would have thought that producing a fake safety certificate for a pressure vessel would be quite a serious thing to do! HSE perhaps? |

Hi Dan
Regarding the proposed method of using soft solder, it is not something I would do but it makes the boiler inherently safe, if the water level gets too low it will quickly extinguish itself! Maybe I have missed a post, but why do you want to replace the stays? If you are not well versed with silver solder beware, cleaning the existing inner surface to the required level and getting heat in to it will be far from easy and may lead to other severe headaches. Keep us posted! |

Thread: Holding milling cutters in a drill chuck |
05/10/2016 12:30:58 |
I can get away with up to 6mm cutter on my X2, my friend who has a Bridgeport uses nothing other than a drill chuck for milling with no noticeable adverse effect. Might it be a rigidity thing? |

Pee - most definitely very unsterile (wife lectured me on this when it was quoted on tv once, and trust me, she is very well qualified). Indeed pretty much every hospital has a dedicated laboratory which analyses urine for diagnostic purposes. It always has bacteria in it regardless of your state of health and picks up more bacteria as it exits the body. It also used to be used as a key ingredient of gunpowder, extracting the Nitrate to form Potassium Nitrate. People used to pee in a bucket which was collected daily and they were paid for this, thus the saying referring to the poorest people came about, "so poor I don't have a pot to piss in". |
