Hi all I am changing the safety valve on my 3 1/2 lilla locomotive from the sprung cartridge arm type, question is what is recommended for a boiler on a 3 1/2g loco to give enough pressure drop and what particular type is best suited. Or do i need 2 valves? Thanks |
Thread: TOS Chucks |

Jason.
I have just found both those suppliers. I bought it 10 yrs ago from one of the Model Eng suppliers, think it was Chronos,it was well under £100 and the soft jaws were about £15,now Rotagrip want £38 per set!!! and MSC £48
Is it not a gamble to use another manufacturers soft jaws or are they all standard to an extent?
Thanks for the post

About to attempt a nameplate with 1/2 high letters, plate is straight no issue there, i have seen some cast letters from Reeves and wondered if anyone had used them?? They will make life a lot easier i guess and at £0.96p each they seem good value.
Thanks in advance any tips in this matter welcome.

Hi all I have a completed boiler for a Hunslet 3.5 guage and to finish the cladding off it requires a radiused brass edge forming/bending for the front off the smokebox, not a sheetmetal person by any means so any tips etc gladly taken. Is i8t possible to buy something?

Thread: Boiler Help |

Yes i was beginning to think that, why then do you think that one end is shown as a blind nut (SS to backhead) and the other end on the front tube plate with no diameter? Also in the EIM write up it makes no reference to them at all,do i presume they are like tie rods with blind nuts ss to place? Thanks for your replies the fog is clearing, just didn't want to finish the soldering to have to start again or even make a schoolboy error.

Hi all,
I am at the final stages of soldering my boiler up and i noticed on the drawing some holes that i am struggling to see what purpose they serve.
The back head has 2 holes with what look like plugs in,yet the drawing does not call for threaded bronze inserts to be soldered in or any reference to what size thread etc,Could these be some type of run out plug? The front tube plate again has 2 holes with no corresponding boiler tube plug or anything?
Any idea or help much appreciated! Deltic 7 |
