Thread: Cost to build in brick?
07/02/2014 21:12:35

To keep my feet comfortable and relieve strain on my ageing legs I have a horse mat it measures 6X4 feet and is 3/4 inch thick. It has a good skin on it unlike a cow mat and cost 50 Euros in my local agricultural supply store. I find it highly satisfactory.

Karl could you please give more particulars of GT 40 as when I google it I get lots about the race cars and their sponsoring oil companies. On the Atlantic coast we have almost liquid air most of the time.

Motors fron forecourt petrol/diesel pumps are very useful usualy half HP and as they are vapourproof will be none the worse of lying in a wet scrapyard. They are not vented so would not suit continuous running but would suit a bench grinder.

I have one under my bench for some time and hope to get round to using it "soon"

Hammer Paddy's (irishmans) precision instrument, the larger the size the greater precision.

Thread: Dimmer Switch

Just as a matter of interest I forgot to switch off my Axminster coolant pump on my lathe and found it running after forty three hours. It seems to be none the worse so I have to say well done to Chinese manufacturing. I am just a satisfied customer, would not recommend using a circulation pump they can be touchy even on domestic heating and sieze if not in regular use.

Thread: Homebush Canterbury NZ open days
12/11/2013 21:21:40

Hope the event goes well, I visited my daughter in Chch in 2010 before the big shake and it was frightening to see the damage. I often wonder how the Canterbury model railway is surviving as many of the shakes are centered in their vicinity.I was always impressed with the friendliness of the people there and in NZ generally.

Thread: Warco VMC electrics
16/10/2013 22:41:41

Thank you for the advice it is much appreciated, my hope was to find a circuit diagram which would enable me to design a circuit incorporating relays that would be controlled by the existing emergency stop button. I may yet have to examine the board but I would rather avoid having to do that.

What I have in mind is to connect the supply to the power drive unit so that the emergency stop button is pressed everything stops. There is no control for the power feed on the switch panel it is an Align motor unit supplied by a transformer. The buttons on the panel from top to bottom are :- forward, reverse, stop and emergency stop. This layout seems to have been introduced a little over a year ago. I have no problems with this just that I can forget to stop the travel seperately when under pressure

I want to connect the power feed of my Warco VMC so that it cuts out both the feed and the spindle motors to avoid an expensive crunch. The machine is the newer type with four buttons. Warco are unable to help and I am unable to find anything on the web. Can anybody shed light in this problem, I dont want to have to dismantle the control panel (my hands are too big)
