Thread: nasty cheap tools

I could never understand why people use indexable lathe tools. IMHO you get a far better finish grinding your own using HSS blanks practice makes perfect as they say. I suppose I can see why they are used in Industry time is money but not for the home workshop

Thread: Taps and dies
22/06/2013 17:37:17

www.tapdie.com/ they are very good quality at a resonable price I have used them for years they are of Indian make but the factory they are made in is very modern and up to date using the latest cnc machines best Wishes Martin

Thread: Taps and Dies
02/06/2013 13:38:48

I buy all my taps and dies from www.tapdie.com they are very good quality and dont break the bank they are made in India but if you see the very high tech factory and  latest cnc machines they are made on it is no problem. A metric set 3mm to 12mm 2 taps of each size taper and bottom 24 pcs in a wooden box with holders is £92-60 Best Wishes Martin

Thread: ML7 - What to look for in buying / must have options
14/11/2012 12:51:59

Why go for a ML7 IMHO the super 7 is a vastly better lathe

The QC gearbox in my opinion is a must have

the most important thing is bed wear if the saddle is loose the headstock end but gets very tight when winding it the other way dont buy.

having the bed reground is very very expensive to have done

The simplex was never a beginners locomotive

which is very complex to make and to get working ,
