Hi Ian,
If you want a program that converts STL files into G code then have you seen DeskProto ? It is a really user friendly program and you can download a fully fuctional 30 day trial.

Thread: what does this mean on a drawing |

Hi Duncan, I have just bought Kalle. Is this the same engine as you have? I have emailed the company asking for a set of English instructions but as yet have had no response. Good luck with the build. Steve.... |

Hi All,
I am considering buying the Hemingways bending roll kit and I was wondering if anyone has any experience of it, or if they have the drawings I could look at to see what is involved. Any information would be appreciated.
Many Thanks

Hi Jason,
I saw this engine running at the Guildford Model Show and it looked good bobbing up and down and pumping water. It seems a real shame that anyone attempting this engine from the drawings will end up making the same pieces 2 or 3 times before it will all fit together and more than likley give up.
Maybe ME should offer you a job as a proof reader!
Keep up the good work stopping mere mortals like me from making to much scrap.
Kind Regards

You can get a miniature nut runner set from Squires Tools which includes a 3.0.
Section 1 page 13.
Hope this helps.

Thread: 2 1/2 Inch Gauge King Arthur Class "Elaine" |

Hi GWRdriver, Thank you for replying to my question. I will heed your advice on the boiler but I think I will have a go at the boiler myself when I get to that stage. Have you any information about the casting set that Reeves do for this engine?
I went to the Guildford show Saturday and spoke to someone on the 2.5" society stand and said that there is one being built by one of their members and that he is doing a write up in their magazine with some improvments and modifications, so I am going to join up.
Maybe when your friend starts his Elaine we can get in touch with each other and compare notes.
Many Thanks again.

I am considering building the above engine and was wondering if anyone has built this model as described in ME sometime back. Casting are available from Reeves and I was thinking of laser cut parts from Model Engineer Laser. Any information would be appreciated.

Rod, Dave and Jason,
Thanks for all the tips, plenty for me to think about.

I want to machine some cam lobes on the milling machine and I seem to remember a program that gave a list of co-ordinates in the z axis relative to a radial movement. This gave a stepped profile which needed a light dressing with a file. Can anyone shed any light on this or any other way of producing a cam lobe.
Thanks for any help.

Hi Jason,
I looked on the Forest Classics web site for the Liney Engines, I really like the look of the Galloway engine. Is it just in the planning stage or are they selling them now?
Thanks for letting me know about the MEB mag. I have ordered 2 back issues and cannot wait to get them.

Hi David,
Here is a link to a free PCD calculator which I find very useful and use all the time at work. It also gives you data for chain drilling holes which would be useful for the portable engine.
Hope this helps.

Jason,
Just like to say what a wonderful job you have done on this engine, it looks nothing like the original.
Being a stationary engine fan there are loads of questions I would like to ask about this engine!
I must say that the MEB mag looks very good. Do you subscribe to it?
