I had a similar experience after taking Gabapentin, rapidly developed a cataract in one eye. Had it removed and vision was restored immediately, however it did deteriorate again soon after.I had to then have laser treatment to correct the problem, apparently it is well documented effect, where the lens capsule turns opaque. Only after effect now is very bad dry eye syndrome, and I have to use lubricating eyedrops regularly. Yes there can be problems, but overall it is well worth it and completely painless. Good luck Colin |

Wow - burning the house down is a bit extreme. Hope that all got sorted.
Yes it is Colin H and you know what it's like once a lipo decides to go, nothing stands a chance. Thankfully the insurance came good, and everything is back to normal now.

Yes we do, you taught me to fly fixed wing when I joined the club That’s good to know are you still flying? After burning the house down with a lipo fire, the wife wasn't to keen on me carrying on, and then I had some cataract problems and thought it was time to give up flying and concentrate on my Locos. Haven't flown for the last 5 years, But I still stay in touch with a few of the old members |

Thread: Warco Minor Mill - Spindle Lock |
20/02/2020 16:59:32 |
Hi Mitch Below is the solution that I came up with for my Amadeal mill. Looking at pictures of your mill, I think a similar solution could be used. The large collar is clamped to the fixed spindle, and the smaller collar has flats cut into it which locate on the spanner flats on the quill. I have found it to be very easy to use, so much easier than finding the big spanner to stop the quill turning Good luck Colin |

Hi David there is a web page with a program called camcalc at http://modelenginenews.org/design/CamTable.html. I have never used it but a member of my club has recently produced a camshat using it Hope this helps Colin |

Thread: testing injectors. |

Have a look at this page where a simplified Bill Carter test rig is described. http://www.modeng.johnbaguley.info/injectors/injectors2.htm. SMEE has the original Bill Carter test rig in its collection. 3 of us spent an afternoon using it to test some homemade injectors, although we could not get it to work properly, probably operator error. Thread: What Regulator type. |
06/02/2018 13:28:09 |
Hi James just a word of warning, if you do use the Simplex design, do not use brass for the regulator tube, it will dezincify over time inside the boiler. I have just had to replace 2 simplex regulators with this problem. I have made the replacements using stainless steel tube. Colin |

Russell I hope that your clutch never goes, the parts are dear enough but if you add on the labour and the price of the special tools to replace it, it definately makes your eyes water. Clever bit of kit though Colin

Thread: After a bigger machine vice |

On mine, c=178mm, because the rear jaw extends out beyond the body of the vice. You can actually hold an object that is longer than the vice itself. |

I know it is over budget, but these are great , wouldn't be without mine now http://www.warco.co.uk/machine-vices-vice-jaws/109-dh-1-precision-vice.html |
