Draw a line 6 units long, mark , add one unit of length .

Now draw a semi-circle radius 3.5 units.

Draw vertical line up from the 6 mark, measure length where it crosses circle.

Answer 2.44948 units long.

Might come in handy to know one day.

Even the major news channels keep talking about eight new nuclear power stations instead of eight 'reactors '

as in the first government statement.

In any event , our ( UK ) ability to build reactors, boilers, turbines, etc , of sufficient size or quantity has long gone.

Houses ,warehouses, no problem , real factories no chance.

Where did the 'off-the-shelf ' small modular reactors go ?

We could certainly make coal a 'clean enough' fuel to use economically to make electricity , until such time as the cleaner alternatives could replace it..

However , that is too simple , it is not in the future plans of our leaders for us.

All charged by the eight 'new' nuclear reactors we are going to build and have running by 2030.

Ten if Hinkley C is not included plus the 25GW of additional windmills ...............

4000miles of canal , equals say 200sq miles max of solar panel , equals say 15 x15 sq miles of desert

equivalent installation. Now compare installation costs and see why it hasn't been done.

Apart from the occasional telephone call from a girl from 'BG' telling me I cannot service my own 30 year old boiler because I'm not CORGI approved , no problem with BGas.

Last gas bill for Feb. showed 3.09p/KWh , six times less than 'electric ' equivalent 24p/KWh from EON..
