Thread: Android GO
13/12/2021 10:49:42

Hi Nigel, thanks for your reply, it’s good to know why people post negative comments, helps to see others perspectives. I must admit to being an Apple user for many years and find that whilst expensive, they are good quality.
Battery life has never been a problem for me, never leave it plugged in all the time as I am told this can shorten battery life.

Not certain what you mean by hobbling them, never had a problem with longlevity, just replaced an iPhone 6 with a 12 for my wife, I have used them from the first one and am happy with the way they connect to all my other devices, tv, car etc.

Can’t compare them to Android though as I have not used one.

Just wondering why some are biased against iPhones, they do not give a reason, or say if they have ever had one?

Hi

I recently bought a small Hyundai compressor from Curry’s online, also from Amazon.

Been impressed with it, very quiet in use, I only use it to power my engines and general workshop duties, don’t know if it would be up to large volume of air requirements but depend upon your requirements.

Thread: Book Your Covid Booster! Errr, How? Where?
10/11/2021 21:09:13

My wife and I had our boosters a month ago along with the flue jab.

Our local surgery in Northumberland send us text messages to book with next day service.

They have a large marquee set up with plenty of staff for a quick and efficient procedure.

We seem to have been lucky, but since moving from Leeds to Ashington the service has been a lot better.

Thread: Blackgates Stent T&C Grinder

When I lived in Leeds I used Blackgates for years, good stock and knowledgeable. Bought my first lathe from them.

I only used to visit to buy as you are not able to order via the website, emails and calls were not always answered.

Now I am in Northumberland I use suppliers that have a website that allows me to see what I want and can order online.
It’s a pity as Blackgates are a good firm but have not moved with the times, I wish they would as I would use them again.

As I said on a previous thread of his, he is brilliant and knows it all, so don’t encourage him!

X2 Martin

Why bother encouraging him, he very obviously enjoys winding people up, hi is so clever he will invent a circular object with a hole in and ask why it was not thought of before.

21/09/2021 19:37:14

Brian’s so clever, really in awe of the progress he has made in a few weeks from beginner to absolute expert.

Also the meter and cutout are unsealed, suggesting someone has been tampering with them. I would contact your supply company before they think you have removed them.

Both should be sealed with the supply authorities seal to prevent tampering.

As others have said, get the mess in the box sorted asap.

Thread: They see you coming
05/09/2021 10:02:59

A few years ago when we were on holiday in our Austin Allegro we damaged a tyre and had it replaced at a national chain. Whilst we waited a lad came in and informed us that the shock absorbers were leaking and needed replacement. We told them to go ahead and waited with a sense of amusement and annoyance. Those of you who know the suspension on the Allegro will know why.

Also works well in a mini lathe.

Use the swa cable, it’s made for such situations, much easier than conduit. Agree about the shipping costs for tin roofing sheets, just done my shed and was very lucky to find a guy that delivered on his way home.

The cost of delivery from anywhere else was way more than the cost of the material, would not have been worth doing the shed roof otherwise.

Sounds like someone should check Myford site for facts before opening his mouth!

Hi Neil

Just the info I need, they look like what will do to start at a price that is ok if I don’t want to take it up. Many thanks

Pgk, thanks for your advice and kind offer, I am in Northumberland so it’s a bit far to travel. Appreciated anyway.

Thanks for everyone’s advice.

Thank you for your assistance, it looks like I would be spending around £800 for a starter telescope, more than I would want, but you have answered my question.

Hi

I am considering buying a telescope, but being a novice can I ask the astronomers on her what I should be looking out for?

I do not want to spend a fortune for a telescope that may not get much use, but would like to know of any pitfalls to avoid.

The standard may be withdrawn, but he will not have any trouble sourcing a D1-3 Chuck on the net in the UK, we’re as he would asking for an A2. Just try looking at any of our usual suppliers, including RDG/Myford.
