Thread: First Milling Machine |

I had an Axminster VHM bench mill for a number of years. The gearbox packed up and I sold it. I bought a Warco VMC with power feed on the x axis, no digital readouts yet, but it has done all that I needed and is as good as the day I bought it. |

Buy a shotgun mate! A good dose of buckshot solves most rat problems if you don't mind the noise and a few bits flying about . Very satisfying !

I just wanted to say that I worked on industrial milling machines before I retired and I know that they could cope with heavy cuts if required. But nowadays I build stuff for fun and I am in no hurry so the VMC has been a great machine for model engineering size parts but it does have its limits , it ain't a Bridgeport!

I have a VMC mill but I have doubts about putting on big cuts in En24t I don't think the head assembly is rigid enough to cope. By all means do it in aluminium or something but just be careful. If you are really anxious to fit a locking pin there may be enough metal on the flange to do it, maybe fit two small pins, it may be easier. |
Thread: Copper pipe bending |

If you have access to back numbers of Model Engineers Workshop , the August 2010 edition, Mick Knights wrote an article about a Mini Pipe Bender which works well for 1/8" and 3/16" copper pipe, I made one and it does all that he claimed. |
