I had been to Aldi but I've had the razor for a few years, next thing they will be on offer again for £12 or so. Anyway, HOWARDT has come up Trumps, many thank HowardT. I had looked on the net but must have had my glasses back to front. A new set on the way £12.99. |

A few years ago I bought from Aldi an electric razor an EasyHome , it has given good service. Recently a piece of the foil broke away making the razor un useable. Does any member know where can buy a replacement, I have looked on the net, all to no avail. John. |

Apparently under the building regulations electric work should be certified by a competent person .Being retired several years and out of tough with modern wiring regulations, but having the highest City & Guilds qualification in Electrical Installation work I tried to become a competent person and what a run round I got, I should have been a kitchen fitter or domestic installer. Common sense is in very short supply. John |

I've actually seen the lens part of specs being made to fit. In the small grinding machine there was three grade of emery wheels A pattern was selected from a box of plastic patterns to match the frame selected. A pair of sucker, very similar to valve grinding sucker were attached either ide of the lens, the assembly was dropped onto two bearing and an infra red light carried out an alignment. test to locate the lens centre. A stylus followed the pattern as the small assembly was being rotated, the rough wheel remove the bulk of the glass. The operator move the assy to the next stage and finally the third wheel almost polished the edges. Done in about 5 minutes, £8 including frames, free tea if you have to wait. I have been unable to find an optician here in UK who will fit new lenses to my workshop frames. John |

No i haven't a Jaguar cub but I have made a MOTOR folder / book for club members, as a reference for when I expire. I thought if I had a copy of Jaguar cub I would add it to the folder ,thinking it might be useful to a member in the future. Several years ago I bought a pre owned Omeron inverter at an auto jumble sale, the seller said it worked all OK. But when wanted speed control it wouldn't, After doing every thing I could think of,I phone Omeron,, their technical support, man was so very helpful. I was too quick using the push buttons, he said, press and pause and when I did, press and pause, every thing worked. I was very grateful / happy. John |

I have several old American books dated 1946 on rewinding motors, and in one it describes a 2 speed single phase motor with two sets of winding for each speed. No mention of a capacitor though. Should any one be interested in motors of all types. I can recommend "Electric Motor Repair" editor Robert Rosenburg and "Armature Winding and Motor Repair" by Daniel H Braymer ,there a few British ones as well but not so comprehensive. John |

If you do a search for lead screws , I think you might find some thing like Humber Engineering or Hull Engineering, both ring a bell but can't be sure. Some time ago some here ,spoke of an engineering company in the Hull area who stock lead screws and he was a satisfied customer. John |

Can any one supply me with a picture of the innards of a BOC Migmaster Turbo 130 or Cerboro Turbo 130 which apparently are one and the same welder. Also, I would like a copy of the circuit diagram in particular the wire drive motor speed controller. There is a small transistor on the pcb in a very inaccessible location and I can't see its number or letters. John |

Most likely a faulty capacitor. However, some of these small motors have in effect three coils, a pair are connected in series across the 230 volt supply. the third coil is connected to the centre tap of the pair (TEE shape) and the capacitor is connected to the third coil open end. Now, one end of the two in series is connected to the second capacitor terminal and to the 230 volt supply. The other end of the pair ( second) is also connected to the 230 volt supply. The Capacitor and the third coil are in series. This means the capacitor can have a lower working voltage and be cheaper.John |

I've used a lot and there isn't an easy way, its a knack one acquires. I use a small slightly bent screw driver as a lever. I'm told in former times a tool called a button huck was used. Both Brammer, and Fenner used to make it so maybe a look on their sites might bring some thing up. John |

Thread: Myford Mk1 Super 7 restoration |
18/04/2020 10:34:10 |
I has the same early type Super 7 with early type gear box. I like Werner found that some of the internal gears had teeth missing, on contacting the original Myford they said, they no longer had spares for the early type gear box. I looked in HPC gear catalogue and found they had them on stock, unfortunately with a bigger bore. I bought the gears, increased the bored even more, then shrunk in a piece of prepared bar to fit, and then bored it to size when cool. I hope you don't need this information. John |
