Follow the gardening adage " never let the weeds see Monday morning" The best herbicide would have been Amcide, Ammonium sulphamate. It wasn't banned; it was the cost of registration thet caused its withdrawal.. So raid the scrap box and make your self a hoe, apiece of 3mm steel ground to achisel edge makes an ideal blade and handle to suit the circumstance. (Hide it in case swmbo discvers how useful it is!) jh

Thread: Pocket mags |

Yes I registered last year and actually opened the magazine; 2 clicks of the mouse and the screen froze . as I expected my internet conection was too slow. I now have a faster connection, ( You Tube is now watchable.) My sreen shows a black back ground with the pocket mag logo, below that an open book and the "shopping basket" and the 3 bars top LH. at the foot of the screen there is an inch high band that can be scrolled but not accessed. At present its 2 clicks and I'm back to where I started. Thesame result googling their Help page and their Contact Us page! |

I am unable to login into Pocket mags. Going through ME website it says a/c activated, click "Here". This takes me to the same page as starting with Google search. In both cases when I click on the 3-bar logo top LH corner it opens a menu. What ever item I select I am returned to the first page. Solution please. (My system Windows 10) Jh |

Re Masks, no need to buy them, make them. The purpose of wearing a mask is trap and hold the wearers exhalations. a mask with an outlet would defeat that objective. i don't know how to make the link but og to guardian.co.uk and search, masks 4all last paragraph describes the success in the Czech Republic. jh |

To go back to the original topic, Teyler's museum, Haarlem in Holland contains a collection of all the earliest equipment used. This includes the largest leydens made, as much as 6ft high. The scientific glass ware are often works of art. It was founded in 1784. I visited the museum in 1970, pushed the door open and found i had the place to myself. If I visited Holland again a visit to to the museum would be at the top the list. Taking a quick look at the web site it appears unchanged (except you now book on line).

Having the space I have used free standing concrete hollow blocks one and two high. Their weight plus the material is held upright stops the blocks tipping. quick to set up. JH |
Thread: Every Tea Room needs a toaster topic... |

This style was around in the mid 50's. The flat top was probably intended for keeping toast warm. But with the top the same width as the base meant the toaster could be turned on its side to make a toasted cheese sandwich, it required caution.. Try that with a pop-up. JH |

YES! Milling a 90 degree V-slot is simple enough but how do you mill one with other angles and trucated bottom? The traps I found were getting it to the right width and on centre to match its mating prism. John |

Reference point Fig.25 p23 (MEW275) With XY plane only one set green lines visible, scrolling round does not pick up grey lines. YZ and ZX planes both display two sets of green lines. (and SWMBO agrees with that) This after clicking on 'Show ref drwg'. Following previous advice I tried "Resetting" Which also meant resetting the units. (thank you Neil for your note) Presumable the arrows are for guidance? each attempt has been with a redrawn base part and obtained 'Alignments.' JH |
12/12/2018 01:36:13 |
After each attempt to change the units, they reverted to inches. This morning when I opened the program I found it had reset to metric. David, I have noted your instructions for future use. thank you both |

Thank you Jason, the tutorial is easy to follow but at stage 7 the APPLY box is just visible half off the screen. Clicking on that un does the previous stage 6 so no change ( I am working on lap top with 14" screen) John |

Directions please for changing from inches to metric. John |

06/12/2018 14:43:13 |
Thank you Jason and David. as far as computing goes I live in a fog. Jason I found your ref previously but the choice of fast or mulicore looses me. I assume an ssd is a usb stick. Presumably I have to install the grapics first. I am looking for guidance on what card to search for/purchse/install.
