My nostalgic moment was last month when I saw the 1996 Toyota MR2 that I owned from Dec 1996 until 2001.

It was going along a local road and looked immaculate that sighting nearly brought tears to my eyes.

probably the most fun car I ever owned (and the quickest)

Bunkers won’t work either!

I would tend to assume that an underwater attack might originate from the eastern side of the U.K. if started in right area it would probably wipe out a large chunk of the European mainland as well.

I read decades ago a nuclear blast might well wreck communication systems so the survivalists might just be wasting time with radios..

As a former colleague used to remark when the danger of nuclear war was mentioned “The best thing to do would be get as close as possible to an actual explosion”.

Thinking of possible long term consequences that might be more sensible than going into a bunker.

I think you will find that Chance Brothers was a major company in the glass making  industry from the early 1800s until they were taken over by Pilkilngtons in the 1950s.

If your wife wants to see the episode featuring fabulous works by Faberge it is episode 2 which was broadcast on Wednesday 13th.

Works by John Constable were also featured.

I know because we watched it live.

I have not seen the robot arm episode yet though.

That supports my comment about teaching cm in schools.

As to the fitting instructions this was a simple sheet of paper for fitting into a worktop not end user data.

As a long time metric fan I still find oddities.

The imperial system is odd anyway take the old pound shilling pence ratio and I cannot even comprehend why a length specified as a nail or separate cloth measure etc.

I think people need to be taught Centimetres in schools because they will find them in everyday life.

Oddities appear to occur, for instance the fitting instructions for a (German) hob in our kitchen show the main dimensions in mm but the heat plate sections are shown as diameter in cm.

A good starting point with stuff like this is to switch  off for about 5 mins (if possible) then on again.

My two indoor ones (can’t think of make) do all sorts of odd things if the replaceable batteries get low.
