Hi Anita. You could try the contact details here for Colchester Model Engineers. I am too far away to help personally. |

V8Eng - Sorry if I offended you, but I was not criticising your choice. I'm simply asking for advice. I know Edge was written for WIN10 but works with WINs 7 and 8. I wish to know how it compares to IE, both favourably and unfavourably; and what traps to avoid ( if possible).
I was not offended but found your reply a bit puzzling as I had said that Edge works (Quite well in fact). I moved my own computing to Apple some years ago but it is surprising the things that seem tied to MS. |

V8Eng - well, yes. If you buy WIN10, Edge is wrapped up in it. Post removed, decided it’s not worth replying to. Edited By V8Eng on 09/04/2021 23:22:20 |

Came with the families W10 PC and it works. No idea about anything else to do with it. |

Chronos, Arceurotrade, RDG and Myford have given really good service to me during lockdown. I have to give a mention to RS and their brilliant ongoing high level of service (order by 20.30 and it turns up next day). They are not specialist ME suppliers but a look at their cat will show lots of stuff for our hobby. I have no connection to any any of these companies just a satisfied customer. If you are looking for Markal products there is a company called Walters & Walters in Hertfordshire who stock the make. A quick search should locate their website. Edited By V8Eng on 06/04/2021 22:39:13 |

Windy it’s good to know that I still have the odd memory cell working in spite of lockdown. Inspiration went to Beaulieu unfortunately that was after my last visit there. Edited By V8Eng on 04/04/2021 20:21:08 |

You would have to do a bit of investigating on the following:- pretty sure I saw a streamlined steam record attempt car in the Lakeland Motor Museum on holiday some years ago. |

Apparently we might be getting listened to whilst on our phones.
What ever makes you think that the UK, USA and other countries don't listen in ! We have GCHQ and have been spying on ourselves and others for years ! Mobile phones and computers just make it easier ! Why do you think that strong encryption is considered a weapon in the US and unlawful not to give up passwords here in the UK.
I just added that linked article as part of the general chat on the subject. Being spied upon is obviously not new (who did not know that?). I think it has been made easier with modern technology and the way people have embraced it plus many giving away personal information so readily. I see! Oh, yes, China seems to be among the world's "leader" if not Number One, in population-wide interception and surveillance techniques. Did you also look down the rest of that Mirror page? In the headlines list at the foot is one referring to a warning about hacking aimed at Whatsapp users. (I didn't follow it, if only because I do not use Whatsapp; but we all know the more you use such sites the less privacy and security you have.)
That may have appeared since I posted the link. I do not use WhatsApp (or much social media) but do know that it seems popular, apparently I am very old fashioned preferring a phone or email to communicate. Edited By V8Eng on 02/04/2021 23:37:15 Edited By V8Eng on 02/04/2021 23:45:10 |

Try Inverter Drive Supermarket they are specialists in the stuff and very helpful to the confused (I was). A lot of the things you are looking for come under the Control gear heading on their website. Linky here:- Edited By V8Eng on 30/03/2021 12:13:33 |

Pleased to hear you seem to be making progress. My licence took nearly 8 weeks to come after having the test at Specsavers. Edited By V8Eng on 27/03/2021 13:50:38 If I pass under normal times took between 7 to 14 days this quote has cheered me up.
Three years ago my licence turned up 4 days after taking the eye test. Edited By V8Eng on 27/03/2021 19:53:12 Edited By V8Eng on 27/03/2021 19:54:55 |

Thanks again Gents. Yes, Pershore is just up the road from me Henry. My latest project would appear to be to find a reliable removal company to move a newly purchased Lathe. Any hints would be gratefully received. The site search button doesn’t give any returns to my searches. Paulbw.

This may be relevant (or not). I was told many years ago that Stainless Cutlery should not be kept next to (touching) silver plated or silver cutlery as the stainless will discolour and the plated stuff will lose the plating over time. Must admit that I have no idea if that is true! Edited By V8Eng on 25/03/2021 21:43:56 Edited By V8Eng on 25/03/2021 21:49:18 |
