Thread: Dividing this would have been an interesting exercise !!
16/08/2021 10:32:41

Not my field at all but the function section in Michaels original link describes it as follows:-

This form of diffraction grating would be put on the end of telescope and produce a spectrograph of whatever was observed with the telescope.

The distance between the wires (about 1.5 lines per mm) suggests it was used for microwave or infrared radiation.

I notice that bare copper wire is specified and that the device goes over the end of a telescope.

I have observed that bare copper oxidises gradually would said oxidation affect the long term operation as a Spectrograph?

Apparently commodity prices are soaring worldwide and shortages are the order of the day.

Lets hope it all stabilises.

Race meetings...pfft!.....Here in Essex stretched Hummers often carry groups of naked women frolicking in the jaccuzzi.

more seriously, the 'jerryrig' project is a fair attempt to scratch build a multi terrain electric truck using avaiable technology....it's worth a look!

Yes I found the video interesting not something I would even consider trying (Electrifying Hummers).

I might be a bit too old to be of interest to ladies in jacuzzis as well!

A stretched Hummer EV springs to mind for weddings etc etc.

I know nothing about Hummers but certainly see plenty of stretches going to race meetings etc.

Related to these discussions: Guy Martin is on Channel 4 at 9pm Monday 9th August (tomorrow as I type).

The programme is called the World’s Fastest Electric Car? Seems that he is converting a VW Beetle to Electric power and going for a record.

Might be worth watching for info on EV systems generally.and he provides good shows.

Not a problem with well-designed Chinese lathes because they would work OK upside down!

Dave

Standing upside down to use it gives you a nasty headache though.smiley

Always good to see nice equipment well restored and brought back to life like this

Possibly the OP is already aware of this online brochure but I thought it worth linking to & page 20 is relevant.

I recently did some checking for EV mileage on a few cars using the range calculators on manufacturer’s websites.
Altering speeds temperature etc could make some surprising changes to potential distance capability.

Pretty much my view of it as well!
