How on earth can you produce a T slot without cutting
a vertical slot first?

You're quite right. CNC should have its own magazine.

I live in NE hampshire (Fleet) and am still waiting for ME and MEW.  I suppose I should consider myself fortunate however because EIM was delivered this morning.  Both ME and MEW were on sale in WHS but so far I have resisted the urge to purchase them.

Hi, I have a question about using indexable lathe tools in a QCT on a Myford lathe.

The spec for a standard toolholder shows a thickness of 7mm for the lower clamping surface.  With a 3/8 sq shank the distance between the topslide and the tip ot the tool will be 16.5mm and this will increase to 17mm with a 10mm sq shank.

On my lathe the top slide to centre line distace is 16.25mm so does this mean it's not worth buying a QCT or am I missing something.
