Thread: Warco 290V push button |

Sorry title should of course read Push button. Bill D. |

Well following my post on The tea room about my green on button shooting off into the stratosphere, still can't find it so thought I would continue my post on here. I suddenly remembered I had a spare somewhere, think I must have had the same problem way back and got a spare but managed to fix the original. The push button assembly connects with the contactor unit behind a plate, removlng said plate revealed a plastic lock nut to hold the button assembly which I have undone but cannot see how the contactor part pulls away from the button assembly, don't want to force it for fear of just breaking it, anyone done this before is there some technique or clip that needs removing to separate the two? Thread: Infrastructure Engineering |

Heard about this car park problem the other day, one in the states collapsed apparently. Out of interest I looked up the weight of the original mini, between half and three quarters of a ton, current ones about twice that depending on model. Regarding parking if I have the choice is park where there are plenty of spaces around, you can guarantee that some one will be cuddled up beside you when you get back, it drives me mad, do a lot of drivers need something solid to aim for when parking. I have seen drivers struggling to get into a tight slot when the car aprk wa half empty, I get it if they have difficulty walking but the ones I have seen seemed perfectly able. Bill D |

Had a google and first name that came up was Aldi, of special interest to me was ingredients as I am a Coeliac (gluten intolerence) Look ok as they did not appear to have any of the no no's to me, Wheat, Rye, Barley or Oats (Oats are actually GF but the normal milling process contaminates them) Might give them a try. Thread: That little devil again |
20/04/2023 12:18:41 |
The little devil that lives under every bodies work bench has been at it again. Pressed the red Off button on my Warco lathe and the green On button shot off, can I find it, it's not something the size of a 10BA washer after all. Had this problem with the button on my Warco, think Warco replaced the original FOC, seems a bad design. Bill D. |
Thread: Vee pullies |
17/04/2023 12:50:25 |
Hi Larry, as a fan engineer of many many decades I can assure you taperlock pulleys are pretty much standard in industrial use. Easy to fit and simple to change the bush if you need a different bore for any reason. A simple pulley with a solid hub is much cheaper but taperlock are relatively cheap in industrial terms but not for a model engineer of course, have you tried any of the companies that advertise used machinery? Depending on size you want, is machining out of a piece of cast iron or aluminium out of the question. Bill D. |
Thread: 400 Bad Request code |

So you IT guys, for my benefit why do these sites not have a security certificate, they have been around a long time I know that much, is there a huge cost to it or some disadvantage that dissuades a business from doing it, don't know anything about Lathes business or is it not a business as such? I always (try to) remember to look for the padlock symbol. Bill D. |
Thread: Spam emails |
17/03/2023 21:48:16 |
I have recently had a spate of emails telling me about free gifts, undelivered parcels etc. Of course I just delete them but it makes me feel nervous that they might be attaching themselves to something I can't see. Scoured my settings but can't see any obvious way of stopping them. This is on Yahoo, both laptop and android phone. Any ideas guys as to how I can stop this.? Bill D. |
Thread: National lottery card change |
09/02/2023 12:06:26 |
Thanks for replies guys, tried all suggestions but just takes you round in a circle. I only do it once in a while to be honest in the hope I may win enough to help my kids with affording to buy a home. Glad I'm not in that postion now, depending where you live of course but the likelyhood of being able to save enough deposit is not good if you are paying rent at the same time and even then the typical 4x salary (I understand) won't buy you much unless you are in higher end of a five figure salary. Down here in Someret prices are generally quite high and Bristol where my youngest son lives, well you are looking at the new London. Bill D. |

As an industrial fan engineer of many decades you would thing I would have knocked one up with no problem, did consider this including buying a 12V motor but, as Baz said, life's too short, I bought one. Bill D. |
Thread: National lottery card change |

Thanks Michael, yes went through all that and no had no contact other than a pop up when I log in saying my card has expired, click on edit to change to another card and that's when you start the merry go round. Bill D |

I'm going mad trying to change an expired lottery debit card number. The website just takes you round in circles, can't change my card to a current one because I have funds in it and can't withdraw funds because my card has expired!! Help page just tells me to do what I have been trying to do. Anyone had this problem. Bill D. |
Thread: How long should I keep my recently vapour blasted steel engine components before getting a primer coat down |

Watched a Car SOS recently, they had a bodyshell shot blasted and at the same time a length of steel which was chucked outside, covered in rust in under two hours. Bill D. |

Hi all, My present flourescent tube over my workbench has just about had it I think. It is a T12 1500 long single tube, I recently found out that the T12 was discontinued in 2012!! Sometimes I have to look up at it to see if it actually is on. So intend to replace with an LED one, any thoughts on size, colour temp. lumens etc. Bill D. |
Thread: My cruise |
12/10/2022 17:13:28 |
Morty, ship my friend went on was Azura. Bill D. |
11/10/2022 19:35:11 |
Thank you Morty, As a matter of interest how did you find your cruise, I ask because a friend of mine recently returned from a P&O cruise (not IONA) and whilst he enjoyed it he felt a noticeable fall in standards compared to the several other P&O cruises he has had. We have had one P&O cruise previously on Brittania which we felt was our best cruise ever, service and personal attention to my gluten free (Coeliac) diet just made the holiday experience so much more stress free. Just doing our cancellation claim with insurance people (Staysure) hope this is grief free. Bill D. |
10/10/2022 10:41:26 |
PS mightily relieved we are not on the cruise in the event but my concern remains at the nature of the medical declaration, it is too black and white, i, like many people suffer from hay fever so you would have to tick the yes box dishonestly to make sure you do not lose your booking. Bill D. |

Just a final note to say how impressed I was with the NHS yesterday. My wife was concerned that I was developing a chest infection so dialled 111. If you've never used this service you have to be very patient (no pun intended) it is a filtration process so you will be asked many apparently entirely unconnected questions but which probably can be relevent if you are a medic. The result of this is the promise of a call within the hour from an out of hours doctor, who duly called, had a chat and said he would to like to examine me (face to face, that was a pleasant surprise for a start) this was at Bridgwater Community Hospital, a relatively new one about 15 miles from where we live. Doc was great, very thorough examination, prescibed some antibiotics. The friendly guy on reception went over and above the get a print off for the report despite some IT gremlins when I explained we had to cancel a cruise. Despite his best efforts he promised that when it was sorted he would email it through. He dismissed our thanks by saying it was his job to help. Email duly arrived last night. Amazingly found a pharmacy around the corner open until 9pm. So it took all day pretty much, but all sorted, great service and all on a Sunday. (oh and free car parking at the hospital) Bill D. |
