I just stuff a bottle-brush down - one that's about twice as big as the large end of the taper. Same thing for chucks .... and almost anything with a hole really. Keep a bunch around in any size I can get hold of. Even use mascara brushes (buy them by the 100 from China on eBay) for small threaded holes. best thing ever invennted, round brushes. |

Brian, On the opening screen of the reader, there is (should be) a 'button" marked "Refresh". Click on that and then open a mag and look for the print icon .... that worked for me. SCAYT = Spell Checking As You Type You need to turn it on. It's not very good, uses American (or did the last I tried) and if you add custom words to the dictionary, it keeps them locally on your machine in a cookie. If anything deletes that cookie, it's back to square one. So that custom dictionary in the FF checker that you've been carefully building for the last 5 years goes to waste here.

Any other connotations re the term are, as they say, 'purely in the mind of the beholder/reader'
In the mind you say .... egad! |

I'd initially thought of using a standard end-mill holder bored out if necessary but that would suffer the height loss problem too. The morse-taper of the MT3 blank arbor is generally just case hardened afaik, so it might be possible to bore into the taper a way to reduce the overall height. |

Did I miss something? When I subscribed to the Digital Only edition of ME last November, the price was £29.99 - the same price as for MEW. Now I notice that the ME price is £47.95 (while the MEW price is still £29.99) When did that happen. Is this part of the new offline reader stuff? Seems like a pretty massive increase and will probably price me out considering I'm much less interested in that mag. |

Hi Brian, The offline reader seems to be working OK on my PC. The mags are downloaded when available. The latest issue of each mag shows up in the 'Library" and clicking on one of those (either ME or MEW) opens up a window which shows all the other coipes of that particular mag on your machine .... as you say, it's only a couple of issues at this time - all the others are still in the archive on line. When you click on a particular issue it opens in the (Flash) reader and the print button is the second icon in from the left at the bottom of the screen. It is a genuine print - not a printscreen. You sound as if you already had a copy of the offline reader. If you don't get the print icon, try downloading the latest release of the reader. The icon was missing initially but Diane had them update it. Re your FF spell checker. If you mean it doesn't work in the editor here, that's situation normal (and all fouled up). The editor here insists that you use its own built-in checker or none at all and inhibits any browser based checker. Many have complained (and still do) to no avail. |

Both ME & MEW are available as back - numbers, priced singly (+post) from the Publishers. Could you not go that route for the few that you want or am I missing something?
My guess is that would cost considerably more than taking out a full digital subscription for a year |

If this is the same as the other electronic edge finders I have seen then the assembly is rigid, Most of the 20mm dia EEF's that I've seen on eBay from China are the "ball in cup" type: the cup gives location to the ball and it's held in by a spring. If you feed in to an edge and go too far (i.e. clobber it) the ball just lifts and no damage is done. I have one of these (and I use ER32 collets). I also have a 1/2" one that is solid and you do have to be careful with those (I'm on my second at the moment). |

Is it ironic that the post pointing out that there is an issue with photo sizes causing problems with the site doing the exact same thing that is being reported? I think it is the photo of the screenshot in the first post that is the cause. It's fine for me (Win8/FF) |

I wouldn't get too hung up on Nylon if you're having difficulty getting some. It's only one possibility. Delrin or UHMW would do as well if you see some. You can often find the latter as sheet offcuts, sometimes quite thick. |

Just bumping this back to the top so its not missed
Just so that you know, it also had the effect of skipping those messages in my email notifications and, were it not for your message I would have missed them because of the bumping.
[ General question about email notifications: why do I get all postings in a thread except my own? Yes, I already know what I've posted but sometimes it's useful to save these notifications for a local copy of the thread and my own postings form a relevant part (to me anyway). And it would seem to be simpler just to send everything rather than decide what is an exception. ] |

the use of the achive I see as a free bonus to subscribers
Not really: the Digital Archive is all I subscribe to and it costs me £60 for the two mags. Hardly "free". Sure, as a sales pitch for paper subscribers you can perhaps say that the archive is "free" with their subscription .... or you could more truthfully say that the price you pay covers the paper magazine and access to the online archive. |

Has anyone had the same problem and managed to overcome it?
No but I hope your experience with Pocketmags support is better than mine. I fired off a question about the print icon which was (according to the help file) supposed to be at bottom left in the offline reader but which wasn't present in mine. After a couple of days I got the following reply: "if you login to the online reader, silverlight version, you should find the option to print." (It actually didn't matter by then as Diane had said they had updated the reader and I made the icon appear by doing a refresh within the app). Make sure you are not entering leading zeros in your subscription numbers. |

If you have an older Digital Subscription (i.e. one purchased prior to this month) then you won't be able to download issues. (That is what I understand the situation is) Not true in my case, Dave. My MEW sub (renewal) dates from last May and my ME sub from November 2012 and I was able to access both using the new reader. I used the subscription numbers exacly as shown in [ My Details ] ... that is, without leading zeros |

I must admit I've been reading this thread with a mild amusement since the temperatures reported are around what we normally expect here (Southern Ontario) at this time of year. But I did a bit of checking and it seems it's getting pretty well up there for you guys and I do sympathise (honest). I stumbled across a rather nicely-done site giving temperature statistic. This is for my own location but you can put any location you are interested in into the search box. Here, they're forecasting 33 deg for the next few days but it "ain't the heat it's the humidity" and the humidex (what temperature it feels like due to the humidity) is slated to be in the 40's. Above normal but not exactly out of the ordinary either. Does that make you feel better? Didn't think so. |
