Hello VCR,
Hello Saxalby
Near Lisbon, on the south bank of the Tagus, and at about 20 km, there is a small company that for several years, but not lately, has supplied me with all the materials I needed. From steels to technical plastics.
The owner of the company, Mr. Carlos Santos, is very helpful and can prepare a lot of metals and / or plastics to order. If you order together the order will be bigger and easier, for him, it will be supplying you.
Among the plastics it markets there is one, the POM, which as far as I know is another denomination for Delrin that I used to build gears.
In contacting the company, if you want, you can refer my name (Dias Costa) as the person who indicated the company and so he will know the style of client that you are.
The website address of the company on the WWW is as follows: http://carlosagsantos.weebly.com/
There you will find the address and telephone numbers for contact and also information about the materials that he commercializes.
Best regards from

Hi Simon.
Another possibility is the pipe through which the water that is formed inside exhaust to the outside, to be evaporated, to be clogged. It has happened to me.

Hello Clive,
To correct my previous post.
I started my activity in the hobby in the eighties.
I have 5 files of Tomé Feteira manufacturer since then and they still perform well so I continue to use them when I need.
My grandfather, who was a blacksmith, already used files from Tomé Feteira and I still have a file that I "inherited" from him.
When the files were in poor condition my grandfather used to sent them to the manufacturer to restore.
As Michael Cox wrote above, now ArcEuro is stocking them.

Hi Ketan,
MEW arrived today to my home, near Lisbooa, Portugal, today morning.
As usual from Arc a very nice, and this time more comprehensive, catalog I keep almost "religiously".
I feel specially happy to see the Tomé Féteira files in your catalogue.

Hi Luke,
Luke: Could a belt drive mod bring the noise down to an acceptable level?
DC: Yes I do think so. However I've been expecting some project or kit to modify my milling and till now couldn't find it.
Luke: Do you think that this noise is due to the gearbox or the motor itself?
DC: It's due to the gear box and also to the transmission among the gears and the splines in the milling spindle.
I recomenbd you to see the message from Paul Lousick. If I was buying a milling machine perhaps I would buy an SX2 or SX3 from ArcEuroTrade.

Hello Luke.
Try also Optimum BF20 Vario. It's also similar to the wm-16.
I have one and I think his noise, when cutting steel, makes it not adequate to use in a flat.
If I were you I would prefer a belt drive solution with a brushless motor.
Just my opinion.

Thread: My milling machine Optimum BF20 Vario electronics has problems |
19/06/2016 23:50:05 |
Dear all,
After I bought an electronic board for motor speed control, as has already written, it is that I realized that the main switch showed signs of being severely burned. One of the terminals moved freely.
Having not found on the web a supplier, I decided to buy the button on the distributor in Portugal.
About 30,00€ after (price for the button) to milling machine BF20 Vario is working apparently well.
Now I have a spare speed controller electronic card which cost me 95,00€.
I thank all the support received.

Dear all,
When testing the new electronic board again, I realized that the noise was coming from the main button on/off of the milling machine.
A further examination using a mirror showed me that two of the switch terminals showed signs of being badly burned.
Before ordering from the Optimum distributor in Portugal, I have searched for the switcher on the WWW and I found it only somewhere in Romania and, apparently, they sell it only in quantity.
The written reference on the switch is as follows:
HY52
E195428
Its image is as follows:

Will someone, among the distinguished participants in the forum, can give me some clue or guide to where I can find it?
Thanks in adavance

Dear All,
A few days ago my milling machine Optimum BF20 Vario started making a pulsing noise similar to interrupt for a moment normal noise after pulsing, then normal, and so on ... At the same time the built-in lamp that receives power from the same source shimmered.
Thinking the cause was the speed driver board I bought a new one and today I installed it.
When I start the milling machine, being very close to the electronic boards, I hear a very low noise that reminds me eggs to be fried and, moreover, the pulsing behavior remains.
Apparently the electronic board speed control is not to blame.
In the documentation of the milling machine, Optimum (the distributor) calls the power board "relay board".
I identify in it a transformer but I am not able to identify any other components.
In the board I can read can read the following: 608BD / 230V 0710300050 P / b ROHS 05/25/2007
Searching the web I didn't found any reference to a plate with those sayings.
I did further research with other criteria but was not successful.
Will someone, among the distinguished participants in the forum, can give me some clue or guide?
I can, if one wants, add some photo of the two electronic boards but, as both are in a position that makes it impossible for a decent photograph, I can show photographs of sections of each electronic board.
Thanks in advance

Hello Neil, good morning.
Thank you for your help.
In the text found on your **LINK** the only occurrence of the word renew has no use for the purpose of renewing the subscription.
And, if I try following the option subscribe in the black bar, there's no option to ask for the continuity of the subscription by stating I want the start of the new year subscription renew with the issue immediatly after the last issue of the previous renew. It even doesn't ask for the subscription number. Strange...
Can you help me and my friend further, please?

Thread: Disassemble and then assemble of an Emco Compact 8 three jaw chuck |
16/09/2015 20:19:42 |
Hello Clive, John and Thor.
I bought my Emco Compact 7 lathe in 1982 and never opened the chuck since.
Today, after disassembling the chuck I saw that she had grease, in addition to lubrication that I put there in the volute and the jaws, in places I could not reach. So I think the chuck was lubricated at the factory with a black grease.
I found that the bevel gear has teeth slightly marked by use. The other parts of the chuck are in very good condition.
Since I have no graphite grease or dry graphite in the workshop, I used Molykote. I may have abused a little in the volute but, as access to it is easy, I will easily remove the excess grease soon.
To Clive: I couldn't found the stick trays in the supermarket. Thank you for your kind offer. It is a shame that we are so far apart...
I usually put the cutters in a plastic box having compartments after I warp them in kitchen paper towel soaked in oil. Some of them I keep in their original boxes when they have it. The last set of milling cutters I bought from Arceurotrade came in very well made boxes which are perfectly suitable for storage. It's a pity Arceurotrade doesn't sell just the boxes...
Especially for Thor: I made a mistake when I started to mount the chuck that scared me. I screwed too tight the pinion's pins and when I tried to fit the jaws, I could not do it. After correcting the blunder, apparently everything was working well in the chuck.
Today I mounted in the Emco Compact 8, for the first time, a 125mm chuck I bought from Emcomachinetools awhile ago. It's a nice Bison chuck but its size strange appears too strange...
One of these days I'll check its concentricity.
Thank you all for your help

Hello Clive, good afternoon.
Thank you for your help.
At the moment I don't have any grease with graphite. But I do have a grease with Molibdenium (Molykot) and another grease with Lithium (BP Energrease). Do you think some of them acceptable for the purpose?

Hello Thor, good morning.
Thank you for your help.
Already dismantled Chuck and everything went well thanks to the information you gave me.
I have one more question: what kind of grease you used? Thin, thick, sticky, made with lithium, etc.?
