Hi Neil

Yes I am up for that although I am usually a silent onlooker!!

Any day and time should be OK with me.

Great idea.

Thread: Power shower tripping earth leakage
08/12/2015 14:10:17

Hi Geoff

Having worked on these a couple of years or so ago I found a recurring fault was a sensor on the bottom of the unit. There are two sensors connected to the board with two flexible wires each. If I remember correctly these were coloured blue for one and red for another. If you unplug these one at a time you may find the fault. The heater is another possibility. Unfortunately the sensors are not available as spares or were not when I looked into this.

Thread: What did you do today? (2014)
17/12/2014 20:44:46

Hi Clive

I have repaired a couple of these in the distant past. I think you will find that the seals have allowed water etc. to reach the bearings. Not a pleasant job I recall. After repairing a couple of these I would always recommend a new unit to customers, although if you have the time and patience to do it yourself it would be most rewarding.

Thread: workshop heating
11/12/2013 15:36:42

Hi

I am lucky enough to have one of the smallest storage heaters and a dehumidifier. Normally it is as warm as toast inside. The shed was well insulated when built and this is crucial. I bet I get a few criticisms over the expense but I would prefer to be warm now retirement is being enjoyed.

No rust bug either and that's a bonus!

Thread: Why is this site so negative ?
04/10/2013 13:02:23

John S

I quite agree with you.

OK there are a few problems at times but surely we can get by without too much acrimony. Neil made a point about the chap doing his job and getting abuse - shame!

I would like to thank Katy for her willingness to listen to complaints/suggestions and hope that she will continue to work on this site without too much - I nearly used the wrong word there - complaint.

You cannot please everyone!

Hi

Has anyone received this issue yet? I have noticed that the delivery of issues is slipping from once being on a Saturday to a Monday and now not so far this week.

Thread: Anyone wear Vari-focal specs?
14/06/2013 21:57:12

Hi Ed

I have had a pair of vari-focal glasses for about six weeks now. I have to say that I have struggled, more so with reading, with these. Fortunately I also had a normal pair at the same time and I use these for any lengthy reading or fine work. I was told that most people take 4-6 weks getting used to them. I find that for normal use they are very handy, not having to change specs each time and find driving OK with them. Thats just my personal opinion, others may differ.

Good luck anyway.

Thread: Preventing Rusting in Garage
19/10/2011 20:25:17
Unfortunately I do not think that anything will be 100% effective unless backed up by a dehumidifier. You would be amazed at the amount of water extracted in one week.
Since I have used one I can leave my tooling just as I have used them without a trace of rust. I do have the entire wooden building reasonably well insulated to start with however and this does help to keep an even temperature within the workshop. Not expensive to run, just the initial outlay to find, although prices generally are not as high as they were a few years ago.

Not much help,I know, if you are unable to afford one but it's my two penny worth

Thread: MEW 162 - Phoenix Battery Drills
17/03/2010 21:40:46
Hi

I think that the problem with the article is that it shows photos of an early version that is definitely poor design.  I have no problem with using the drills with an external battery if it is carried out to the later design.  It's a pity that three photos show the earlier version.

It is difficult to prevent this kind of thing happening as we perceive dangers differently to each other.

David, I am impressed with the way both magazines are now being produced so please carry on with the good work despite criticism.

Regards
