Hi James Reeves supplied the spring steel in an annealed state. I'll be seeing my father-in-law (who set and heat treated the springs) later, so I'll asked him exactly what he did. Colin |

Not on a Clayton, but a rebuild/mod of a 2.5" POP steam lorry. We used 5/8" x 16swg spring steel for the extra leaves we needed (with suitable heat treatment after forming) as that's what had already been used on the original build. Probably not the cheapest place but we got it from Reeves . Colin |

Yes I've got the wide thread problem on this post to, I'm using Firefox under Linux. I would guess the problem is to do with the width of the link posted by russell. In most forums I've used you can give a link a shorter text title which would probably help. Example below Colin Edited By Colin Reed on 04/09/2009 06:58:16 |

I also looked for issue 155 at home after seeing it in the "Back Issues" section. I'm a subscriber and found up to 154. Looking at issue 154 it says 155 is due on 4th September 2009. Colin |
Thread: Diamomd tool holder |
26/08/2009 00:00:03 |
Hi Graham I also have been stung recently with import duties and fees when I bought a motorcycle tank from the States. I think I may be OK with the diamond tool holder I purchased from Eccentric Engineering as it had a declared value of 20 aud on the import slip. I'm sure there are no duties payable if the value is less than something like £15. Colin |

Posted by ken heppener on 16/08/2009 06:39:47: I placed my order on the 5th of this month and I'm still waiting for it to arrive.. Mine was ordered on the 5th August and I've had a message from my wife to say it has been delivered - total cost was £57.47 assuming there will be no further customs charges (are they charged for items imported from Australia to the UK?). I ordered the smallest T6 size for my Taig lathe. Does anyone have an online UK source for the recommended M42 grade, 8% cobalt HSS square 1/8" tool blanks? Colin |

George Are you in the UK, and if so did you purchase your diamond toolholder from bay-com? If so I was just wondering how much it ended up costing in UKP, import duties etc.. Regards Colin |

Thread: brazing/siversoldering |

I'm also wanting to set myself up to do some silver soldering etc. and noticed that Machine Mart do this Sievert torch kit for £57.48, or if you can wait till one of their VAT free days for £49.98. The ad also says that the regulator is adjustable 1 - 4 Bar, which was mentioned earlier in the thread.
Is this a good starter kit or am I missing something and need to be spending more money for something more suitable?

Thread: Shims for packing up cutting tools |

Shimming lathe tools to centre hight definately made a difference for me. For my Taig lathe I've managed to get away with using old feeler gauge leaves and bits of cut up coke can. Edited By Colin Reed on 19/05/2009 12:20:47 |
