Don't really think a screen saver is going to help shock treatment of dropping unit, of course this depends on drop height. Yes, hindsight is a great teacher. Specialist tools required are a Credit (OR Debit) card, any bank type and a hot air gun. Regards Ian. |

Wonder if now we're out of the common market, Leadless solders and non Cadmium Silver Solders will be banned and we can get back to the good stuff? There must be millions of pounds worth of electronic equipment binned due to rubbish soldered joints. If the PSU works with a wiggle, it could be a poor joint on the PCB. Voltage regulator pins suffer from "Leadless" solders. Regards Ian. Depending which model Lenovo laptop but mine has a battery charge level icon at the bottom RHS and as I normally use the lappy with the mains/charger lead connected there is a "Best Battery Life" setting. I always go for this setting (Frugal - Tight Yorkshireman) which means charge is static at 49%. On the odd times I'm going to use it away from charger, I normally disconnect lead and let the lappy run down to safe bottom level and the replugging charger back in, I get 100% charge. Thread: Tapered Square metal punch anyone? |
23/08/2020 12:58:05 |
Na, it's much more fun trying to interpit the originators mind. On another forum split pins are questioned, Rollpins, Selluc pins or Spirol pins are what he REALLY meant. DOH! Regards Ian. |

Before you ask, they can be held in a split collet, socket inwards, in the lathe for drilling. Regards Ian. |
Thread: Proxxon collet size? |

Thanks for dimensional description Barrie, Saves irritant squabbling. Probably a dimensioned drawing of all ER size collets, there seems to be for all other types, Crawford Etc.. And part of design is that ER collets are supposed to be self extracting. We all seem to have lost a great mentor. Regards Ian. Can't you make a punch and die and crop the holes? Far easier than clearing the cutter teeth. Regards Ian. |
Thread: Can anyone supply a lead for grub screws |

" can I drill a grub screw? " You serpantly can, just use a SHARP drill, you DON't need carbides. A few years ago, a machine used for cutting mitres with a double headed saw on UPVC frames had to be adjusted for length settings constantly. One head was fixed, other was slid and nipped up on a round slide. Problem being, as expected, burrs thrown up on shaft. Had no idea about the existence of brass "buttoned" screws but about half an hour (At home) had half a dozen (6) Allen cap screws converted. Saw the commercial ones about twelve months after I left.

Congratulations Mark, also my second Sandero,, first was three years old, 12k on clock and came with two years free service and free MOT for life. This one bought new last year, as stated has 2140 on clock now and just cost £112 to have orange light turned off. Vehicle health check, page full of green ticks and tyres good with 6.9 to 6.7mm tread, WHAT a surprise. Analyser/resetter is going to cost a lot less. Regards Ian. |

Thanks An Other, tried the Ignition on, depress and hold accelerator pedal down and pump brake pedal three times. Doesn't work on second generation, clever bu****s have changed the system. Will be going down the plug in route or if you know the keypress code, a PM will help. Regards Ian. Anyone know where I can obtain quantities of eye of toad and toes of lizard? Orange light came on on dash, "Drive CAREFULLY to main dealer." "Has it been serviced?" No, "Ahh, it's twelve months old, what's the mileage?" 2130 (yes, four digits only) "Err it must be the pollen filter needs changing". Despite no air conditioning fitted to the Sandero, it seems they fit a filter to the heater outlet. It's going in tomorrow for "Filter change" and at my request oil and oil filter change, these are changed at twelve months no matter what. Point of posting? Isn't t'internet wonderful? It would appear that many other Dacia owners fall for the "Frighten the cr** out of the owners light" There is a mileage/timer "worm" loaded into the ECU that triggers at 12000 miles or twelve months whichever comes sooner "Take me back to my master" light. After the "Service" but BEFORE the card goes into the "Pay Here" slot, there WILL be a discussion. I don't wonder BS motors proudly sponsor F! Regards Ian. Trust you're "Gas qualified" Fizzy? Sounds like you passed with honours if the original "Plumber" is anything to go by. |

Well, when you gaze into the shallow depth of the Gene pool, it must make them wonder Was it really worth it? Six years of history ( or four for some ) not to be forgotten. Sadly, this subject could go rabidly political but thanks to a caring generation who felt it their duty to stand up and be counted.

Door furniture for plastics were never meant to be a "Partial" thing, Door is either closed or fully open, design was to stop door opening greater than 90deg. saving tears if you inadvertently let go while opening it in a wind. French doors?? Regards Ian Edited By Circlip on 10/08/2020 12:28:43 |

Fully agree but far better to learn the basics BEFORE adding the exotics. First motorised two wheeler was a Vespa, last of four bikes, Moto Guzzi Le Mans. Learned a lot between.

Lack of machinery investment is not new, we used to have a textile industry until after WW2. Used to have an Ignerring industry too. Wonder how many realise the machines they now use are re exported castings?
