Many thanks Steve. How did you connect your board to the Andriod tablet?
Many thanks Clive. |

Very interesting Stuart. I have a few Arduinos about and a rubbish tablet. I take it Yuri has information about building and the app for the DRO on his website? |

I have a recollection of that swimming pool being used for the boats that were displayed at the exhibition, this would have been circa 1970 - 72. My earliest memories of the ME exhibitions were at the Horticultural Hall in Westminster in the early 50s, where amongst all the usual exhibitors there was control line flying around a central pole and tethered racing cars. Very exciting to a 5 year old. I can't remember for certain whether there was any safety netting/barrier, but I don't think there was, imagine doing that nowadays! Phil That does sound exciting! |

Mark, you appear to be confusing the digital callipers which are £9.99 (mine takes a 2032 rather than the little cell ones which are useless so is a good buy) with the metric micrometer/compass/spring balance which are all £6.99
See here. |

JasonB, there have not been any shows for me to go to since 2020. If there were, I do have cash to spend at one, and will not actually buy a DRO until after the Midland exhibition which I hope to attend, though it is a 6 hour trip both ways for me. I have a pot of cash which is made up of money people have given me that I did not ask for as well as YouTube earnings. |

Many thanks Clive, Dave and Gary. Helpful advice.
I do have both a mill and 2 lathes to make mounts though. |

It isn't much but I will do a review of the compass if they have some on Sunday. |

Yes Ian, I got myself the metric micrometer and ill review it over the weekend. (I review a lot of Lidl tools).
I will also get the other bits you mentioned together with the compass with the carbide scriber. |

Some really interesting responses. I will try to get to the Midlands show. That said it would be really good if someone organised one in the South East. We used to have Brighton, Sandown Park and Alexandra Palace and now it seems the nearest is the Midlands one. |

Thank you Pete and Nicolas.
Not Done It Yet, no, plenty of people use both Banggood and Vevor. |

So there you go, fancy organising something in the South.
Interesting discussions.
Do people like going to exhibitions and if so, what would an organiser have to organise to get you to go? Paul. Not really. But unless some club or clubs do there isn't going to be one. Many thanks for the answers. Interesting how far you are prepared to drive.

Hold it in a town where there is no emission zone, there must be some in the southeast with large halls or racecourses? Model Engineer Magazine used to hold their annual exhibition at Epsom races before moving to Brooklands and then stopping altogether. I quite liked that as a venue. Not quite sure why Brighton Model World stopped at the exhibition centre there. |

I am aware of that exhibition. Is there a reason for abandoning the whole of the south east? |

London Model Engineering exhibition at Alexandra Palace, Does anyone know if it is likely to be on in 2024?
Last one was in 2020 just before the pandemic, not been one since.
Or alternatively one in the South East that has a bias towards model engineering. |
