Thread: Denford VMC1300 Pro Mill
11/10/2022 19:34:31

Thinking of getting a CNC mill and firstly wondered if anyone had experience of using a Denford VMC1300 Pro mill and its accompanying software? I did CNC programming on Interact Mk1 mills with Heidenhein controls back in the mid 1980’s but no use of CNC since so although I am not a complete CNC dummy I have a steep learning curve in front of me, so any advice would be a massive help. My second question is what kind of air compressor is required in relation to hooking it up to a CNC to operate an automatic tool changer.
Thanks in anticipation.

Thanks for the welcomes - I used to buy MEW back in the early 1990's and that's how I ended up buying one of the last of the TOS Mn80a instrument lathes which were imported by XYZ Machine Tools of Tiverton when the Eastern Bloc imploded. I still have the original advert leaflets that XYZ placed in MEW magazine to shift these wonderful little machines. Mind you the accuracy certificates that came with the lathe are somewhat a work of fiction and one can imagine some poor oppressed Czech factory worker being told to falsify the numbers on pain of death!

The Mn80a lathe came retrofitted by XYZ with a British made VFD drive connected to a somewhat over sized 3-phase motor and all these years on both are still working perfectly, all be it without the torque vectoring of modern VFD's.

Funny you should say about a kiln, I did pick up a small German made electric kiln recently. It was previously used for fusing decorative glass. It was one of those rare moments when Gumtree came up trumps and it was free to a good home and less than 10 miles away to collect which was a huge bonussmiley

Rishton / Myford milling attachment for the above lathe.

Tos Mn80A instrument lathe with all of its original accessories.

Vison Tool & Cutter Grinder that was adapted by someone cleverer than me into a truly unique multi-purpose grinder, including a motorised cylindrical grinding attachment.

Eagle Surface Grinder with 15" x 6" Eclipse magnetic chuck.

Tom Senior Major vertical mill (with the less common dovetailed sliding head arrangement). Fitted with Newton Tesla VFD.

Meddings Pedestal Drill.

Axminster Combination Linisher.

Andeli all in one inverter welder.

Warco Horizontal Bandsaw

Powered Flywheel Press

Currently looking to purchase a Denford VMC1300 Pro CNC mill or similar.

Thread: Why do my classified photos display at 90 degrees
11/10/2022 12:27:46

First post and not a terribly interesting one I am afraid, but having posted one wanted and two for sale ads in the classified section I am scratching my head as to why the images I posted are showing at 90 degrees as if they were in landscape format? I am sure its me being a luddite that is the reason for this, but a pointer as to how I can correct this would be most helpful.
